On this week’s Maji Muku Children’s book review we spoke with children’s book author Lucy Reynolds who presented her book “Parrots Don’t Live in the City.”

This is a book for children aged 2 to 6 and is filled with bright coloured illustrations that I think most children will find stimulating.

One of the things I liked most was that the book is written in a melodious rhyming style that I think would be fetching to the ears of most children. Lucy, who holds a PhD in poetry explained that she believes that rhyming, is a way of teaching children to read more easily and therefore made the choice to present the story in this way.

Even though the book is being self-published at this stage, Lucy is experiencing a “selling bonanza” in that she is selling in many children’s bookshops as well as on Amazon and her own website.

I think this book will be a great success and that children will like having it read to them as much as parents will enjoy reading it.
